Formed during 1998, the Combilift Company was started by skilled engineers Robert Moffett and Martin McVicar in Monaghan, Ireland. With a combined engineering experience of over 40 years, they made use of their knowledge and practical experience to create and design a new breed of long-load lift truck: the Combilift. Combilift Ltd. is the manufacturer of numerous multi-directional lift trucks for the material handling trade. In fact, the Combilift was the first IC engine Multi Directional lift truck in the world. Now, the company makes more than 10 different models and their products are exported to industries all around the world. In the year 2009, Combilift proudly celebrated the delivery of their 10,000th truck. The business attributes its growth by support from their network of international distributors who support their range in expanding markets all around the world. The shift in supply change management to a much more just-in-time focused approach has meant that Hyster has had to continually invest in new-found technologies. Acquisitions and investments were made in the US, Italy, Netherlands, and lots of other places all over the world. All of these investments have made Hyster a world leader in the lift truck market. In 2009, Hyster celebrated its eightieth anniversary as an industry leader of materials handling equipment, which includes over three hundred different styles of lift trucks. In the new millennium, Skyjack was purchased by the Linamar Corporation, who is LNR on the TSX, a leading maker of modules, assemblies and precision-machined components. Now, Skyjack has manufacturing plants in Hungary, the United States and Canada with added support offices in Asia and Europe. Skyjack became the leader in the industry of aerial lift truck machinery by combining features such as durability, quality and serviceability, making their own scissor lifts known worldwide for product reliability and efficiency. Skyjack proudly produces a full line of self propelled scissor lifts. Their elevated work heights reach up to 56 feet. The company`s existing Boom lift model series has telescopic booms ranging from forty five feet to seventy one feet. Skyjack has plans to further expand their boom lift truck product line. The company is still a dominant player in the trade adapting fast to the always evolving needs of their clients. Recently, Skyjack purchased Carelift Equipment in August of the year 2007 and Volvo's Material Handling Equipment to try to expand their Telehandling product offering. The resulting Zoom Boom and VR series telehandlers along with the extra manufacturing ability further guarantees the company`s success and growth. Toyota's lift trucks offer better durability, visibility, productivity, ergonomics, and all the leading safety technology that has made Toyota an industry leader. The company’s System of Active Stability, also referred to as “SAS”, helps reduce the chance of accidents and injuries, and increasing productivity levels while minimizing the potential for product and equipment damage. System Active Stability is able to sense conditions that could lead to lateral unsteadiness and possible lateral overturn. When one of these conditions have been detected, the SAS will instantaneously engage the Swing Lock Cylinder to re-stabilize the rear axle. This adjusts the lift truck’s stability trajectory from triangular in shape to rectangular, offering a major increase in stability which substantially reduces the likelihood of an accident from a lateral overturn. The Active Mast Function Controller or the Active Control Rear Stabilizer also assists to avoid injuries or accidents while adding durability. The SAS systems were initially adopted on the 7-Series internal combustion lift trucks which were put on the market in 1999. These systems helped propel Toyota into the lead for industry safety standards. Now, SAS is utilized on nearly every new internal combustion models and is standard equipment for the new 8-Series. There are more than 100,000 SAS-equipped lift vehicles in action, exceeding 450 million hours combined. The increased population of SAS-equipped trucks in the field, along with required worker training, overturn fatalities across all models have decreased by 13.6% since 1999. Also, there have been an overall 35.5% drop in industry wide collisions, loss of control, falls and overturn from a lift vehicle for the same period.
