Change an LPG Cylinder
Forklifts are powered by a variety of sources. They could run using gasoline, liquid propane or LP gas, battery or diesel. LP is a clean burning fuel preferred for various uses. There are some facilities that have large liquid propane supplies on site. This enables forklifts to be refueled anytime they need. In other places, the facility would have spare LP cylinders that are able to be changed out when the machinery needs to be refueled.
So as to avoid potentially serious injury, specific precautions must be taken when changing out an LP cylinder. For instance: be certain to put on the correct safety equipment such as heavy gloves, goggles or safety glasses. Make sure that you turned off the forklift ignition before changing out the tank. Next, close the cylinder valve by turning it until it is closed firmly. Use your hand to loosen the hose connection to the tank. Remember that it will turn in the opposite direction of a normal connection and never use a metal tool or any type of wrench on these connections. They are meant to be tightened just by utilizing the hand.
