Boomlift / Manlift Vallejo

Used Boom Lift Vallejo - The boom lift is one of the most popular kinds of aerial machinery. Commonly known as aerial work platforms, mobile elevating work platforms, cherry pickers, aerial devices and elevating work platforms, it was engineered to complete work at higher locations more efficient and easier. Many industries rely on boom lifts every day including retail locations, construction contractors, companies and warehouses. Staying safe while working at high altitude is essential for daily success. The material handling industry offers many boom lift models. A single operator can control a variety of boom lift models. This equipment became popular in the orchard industry to harvest fruit without having to climb a ladder and balance heavy baskets or pails. Since ladders require even, solid ground for setting them up safely, they can be unreliable in the agricultural industry. Relying on a boom lift is an easier and safer way to reach tree tops. Gaining Access Over Obstacles Boom lifts make working over top of obstacle much easier as many models have been engineered to travel up and over items. This equipment is used in numerous industries including installing telephone poles and lines, maintaining overhead cables and window cleaning applications due to their ability to reach items when it is not practical to situate the machine directly underneath the issue. The articulated boom lift is an example that has numerous joints enabling it to bend over or under items. These sections can independently move to allow workers to gain access to a variety of places. Articulated booms feature a tight turning radius, making them ideal for hallways and narrow storage corridors. The dual-fuel boom lifts provide service in both exterior and interior locations. Diesel models are used outside while electric boom lifts are implemented in interior locations. Articulating Boom Lifts These boom lifts are popular for numerous construction and maintenance jobs. These machines are often seen servicing overhead wires and power lines. Firefighters may use these machines and some articulated boom lifts have water cannons. Telescoping sections are available on certain models to extend reach to the maximum. Some articulating boom lift models have an extra jib to enable their platform to reach six feet further in any direction. These boom lifts go by the nickname of “spiders,” since their legs can support the entire machine on steep or difficult terrain. Interior articulating boom lifts are smaller and able to fit through doorways for use inside storage, warehouse and retail capacities. Interior models are typically electric boom lifts due to their lack of dangerous carbon monoxide exhaust and quieter features. Telescopic Boom Lifts Designed otherwise, telescopic boom lift models bend differently from articulating boom lifts. These models extend upwards and outwards, relying on hydraulics that extend and retract. The worker who is in the platform has the controls to extend the lift and is able to operate without a second worker. Some taller and larger models have a jib situated near the top that is similar to an articulating boom lift model. Some models of boom lifts can achieve a reach of more than 180 feet. These machines are built to be stable and reliable. Some are able to extend to their full height capacity in less than 60 seconds. Adjustable speed, along with varying weight range capacities from 500 to 1000 lbs. are available in dual-fuel and diesel options. Available in 4WD and the ability to fit through small spaces. In terms of combining height and reach, telescopic boom lifts are your best bet. Jib The jib is the extension found at the end of the main boom and between the platform. Certain models offer an additional articulation point or hinge that allows the platform to travel horizontally and vertically. Jibs are an option on many telescoping and articulating boom lifts. Articulating boom lifts have a joint found approximately halfway between the platform and the wheels to allow it to reach over obstacles. The operator can lower the machine again afterward if required. Genie Articulating Boom Lifts A well known articulating boom lift that can be seen in a variety of applications is the Genie Z-boom. This unit offers exceptional versatility for accessing difficult to reach locations with the capacity to lift up, over and out with precision. The first articulating Genie Z-30/20 boom was launched in 1985. These machines became immediately popular with their up-and-over design that continues to make them sought after nowadays. Proper Safety Measures Safety is the utmost priority when operating any kind of boom lift. All known safety hazards must be known to anyone working within the vicinity. Safe operation of the machine and personal safety must be paramount. Before starting the boom lift, it is paramount that the proper safety gear and communication is in place. Be aware of any battery gases, engine fuels, combustible items, lit cigarettes or open flames near the machine and do not operate if any flammable or combustible items are present. For the ultimate safety, it is important to have a visible, safely mounted and accessible fire extinguisher within the operators reach. Maintaining a clear area around charging stations and work surfaces is important as tools or clutter could damage the boom lift or cause tire punctures etc. Daily Maintenance Daily maintenance includes a visual inspection and consulting the maintenance manual to ensure the machine is up to date and will operate safely. These industrial machines rely on lifting and supportive mechanisms to stabilize the weight. Fasteners, straps and chains must be regularly checked to make sure they are safe working order. Single-use fasteners and components must not be reused as they may fail and become extremely dangerous. Discarded solvents and oils must be disposed of safely and in an approved container to prevent environmental contamination. Adequate ventilation and lighting are essential in garages, workshops and along workbenches. To organize and specify, maintenance is categorized into a variety of subsections including Annual Maintenance, Quarterly Maintenance, Programmed and Commissioning Maintenance Intervals. Maintenance Inspection Report Key components of the boom lift are divided up to categorize the inspection process. Common maintenance categories include Control and Function, Turntable, Booms, Platform, Drive Chassis and Engine. Improper completion can result in unsafe operation, damage to components, poor performance and downtime. The maintenance inspection report extend the performance and service life of the machine and needs to be accurately maintained to ensure the machine is safe to run and that the machine is capable of performing properly. The term commissioning refers to a list of single maintenance procedures that need to be completed at 50- and 150-hour intervals to keep the machine optimally running. Quarterly and annual maintenance is required to be performed throughout the year. There are a variety of programmed maintenance procedures based on preparing the machine for pre-delivery machine operating. Consult your maintenance manual prior to operating to ensure all oil changes, battery life and fluid levels are primed for success. Boomlift / Manlift PDF
