Forklift Accidents
Carelessly using a forklift often results in forklift accidents. This happens when the forklift operator is not trained well in safety measures. Anybody operating a forklift must always be cautious to reduce the risk of mishaps and to avoid possible dangers.

Forklift Accident Statistics:
OSHA, that is responsible for monitoring workplace safety, reports on the frequency of forklift accidents. Typically, every three days somebody is killed in a forklift mishap within the United States. About 95,000 injuries take place in forklift related accidents every year. The vast majority of these mishaps could have been avoided if proper safety procedures had been followed. There are even internet sites committed to reporting stories of forklift mishaps.

Both individuals and businesses suffer as a result of forklift mishaps. There are a lot of reasons why employers should take steps to lessen the risk. Among the biggest reasons is to avoid possibility of lawsuits if someone is hurt. Second, mishaps cut down on working time. Thirdly, merchandise and property can be damaged during accidents. Nearly all mishaps are attributed to employees who are not well trained. Employers are responsible for making sure that all employees who are using the forklift are trained in safety and risks. Never let anyone on a forklift who isn't trained to use the forklift. Your business must develop and post in a location that is visible all forklift safety procedures.

Workers must have a positive attitude when they go through training, instead of doing it just because they are required to. You as the employer must help workers know the significance of proper training. Let them know that they can kill or injure not only themselves, but other people, if they make mistakes. It is up to you to ensure that all your workers undertake training seriously.
