Forklifts are vehicles commonly found within factories, warehouses and various work locations where it is necessary to move heavy materials from one location to another. The mast is the mechanism situated on the front of the forklift that hydraulically raises and lowers the load. The "cat" is the area which is protected where the forklift driver sits.
Forklifts could carry loads which weigh between one to five tons. Some kinds can be used to raise shipping containers and loads that are much heavier.
Forklift tires must be checked and maintained on a regular basis. The types of tires on various forklifts differ according to factors such as frequency of use, load weights and ground surfaces. Every forklift operator must have access to tire press, replacement tires and a forklift jack.
Tire Maintenance Instructions
Perform tire inspections on a regular basis. Watch for signs of damage and wear to the tires. If the wear on the tire exceeds 40%, it needs to be replaced.
When you buy tires, be certain you buy the right type - solid, pneumatic or polyurethane.
When the tire needs replacing, position the forklift jack under the tire and raise the forklift high enough that you could change the tires easily.
To remove the damaged tire, pull the tire from the rim using the tire press. Install the new tire and properly secure it. If you are changing more than one tire and you have only one jack, lower the forklift, and then reposition the jack at the next tire.
A repair company can provide on-site tire repair. If the tire is too big for both mobile and in-house tire presses, the damaged tire should be transported to a shop which has a stationary tire press.
