Solid Lift Truck Tire Safety
Over 200 deaths every year within North America are a result of forklifts, or lift trucks. Proper maintenance and inspection of forklift tires could really help to reduce the risk of accidents.

Pre-Work Inspection
The tires on the lift truck should be inspected at the start of each shift, checked for indications of wear and damage. The air pressure in the tires must be checked to ensure the pressure is not too low. Low tire pressure could make the machinery susceptible to tip-overs when lifting loads.

Types of Tires
The choice of tire type should be based on the type of surface wherein the lift truck will be operating. For indoor applications, lift trucks with solid rubber tires are recommended. For smoother surfaces, tires tend to be smaller. Bigger pneumatic tires are best for lift trucks being utilized outdoors. Pneumatic tires could grip rough surfaces well because they have rubber tread and are air-filled.

Other Considerations
Any lift truck utilized on a continual basis must be checked at the completion of each shift, according to OSHA guidelines. The tires should be checked again for any indication of damage, like for example cuts or wear.

Forklift Safety
Forklift safety is important for any employer or employee utilizing a forklift as forklift mishaps could be serious leading to personal injuries and even death. Even minor accidents can cost you and your company money if the merchandise or the forklift are damaged during a mishap. Be certain you are well informed about forklift safety issues.
